Over the last year, United Way programs served at least 62,000 individuals and 26,578 families, or at least 1/3 of the County's residents, at a cost of only $19.36 per person.
However, the United Way Board of Directors is projecting a $250,000 shortfall in income needed to meet grant commitments to 43 programs within 24 agencies. Recent reports from major corporate and employee donors reflect the national economic downturn resulting in a $250,000 shortfall in projected income.
Butler County residents rely on services for the frail elderly, and children and family members with special needs. If United Way cannot meet commitments to these programs, thousands of families will suffer. This is no time to look back, only time to move forward as a County committed to the education and financial stability of its constituents.
