United Way of Butler County’s Board of Directors approved a Community Impact Plan for the next four years that will directresources toward Education, Financial Stability and Connecting People. The Plan is the result of the Community Solutions Assessment that was presented in December of 2006 by the United Way, Butler Memorial Hospital and the Butler Collaborative for Families.
According to United Way Executive Director, Leslie Osche, a Strategic Planning Committee, chaired by Jennifer Roxbury ofNexTier Bank, reviewed the results of the Assessment and spent several months determining what issues were of greatest concern to the community in order to focus resources in those areas. Education, Financial Stability and Connecting People were chosen.
Three Impact Councils made up of representatives of various community constituencies including human service agencies, business, education, government and labor, met for nearly a year to define issues, goals and outcomes around Education, Financial Stability and Connecting People. Through leadership and partnerships United Way of Butler County will provide opportunities for the community to Give, Advocate and Volunteer in ways that will support Education, Financial Stability and Connecting People. Partnerships with agencies, employers, schools, churches, media, retail and legislators will:
• Improve access to basic needs, child care and early learning, educational supports, transportation, affordable housing
and insurance.
• Help residents develop skills in parenting, employment, practical self-help, financial literacy, crisis/disaster readiness
and volunteerism.
The goals, projected outcomes, investments and a list of the Impact Council members are highlighted on the
